With the cold and flu season right around the corner, many people are starting to worry about sinus headache; symptoms, causes, and treatments. In particular, because different kind of headaches respond differently (or don't respond at all) to different medications, it's important to be able to recognize a sinus headache symptom so that one can treat them properly. Migraine headaches can sometimes affect the nerves in the sinus cavities, making it seem like you have a sinus headache, but being able to tell them apart is quite important, because migraines rarely respond well to medications for sinus headaches. Similarly, a sinus headache may not respond to medication for a migraine headache. The sinus headache symptom is crucial; if you can't tell the difference yourself, consult your doctor about it.

One sinus headache symptom is, of course, simply pain in the sinus area, pressure on the backs of your eyeballs, aches in your cheeks, especially right under your eyes, and sometimes pain all the way up into your forehead, as well. But the pain doesn't have to be limited there; it can also make your entire head feel swollen and achy. Sometimes, in addition to the pain in your sinus areas, you may feel pain or pressure in the top or back of your head, as well.

Another key sinus headache symptom is a stuffed or runny nose. If it feels like your nose or nasal passages are so stuffed that the pressure from the blockage is causing the headache, it's probably a sinus headache. And a stuffed or runny nose probably will not be present in the case of a migraine headache, so if you experience either of those symptoms, it's almost a dead giveaway.

Additionally, if you feel achiness in your upper teeth, or in the area around your upper teeth, in addition to pain or pressure in your sinus areas, it's another good sinus headache symptom.
